Make zines about

Mental Health

with artist

Dana Variano

Join artist Dana Variano (felttipfeelings) at the Asterisk for a free zine-making workshop based on their Cartography of Coping series!

Brought to you by a generous grant from United We Om, this workshop is a free and safe space for you to explore your anxiety and mental health coping skills through the use of zines, markers, stamps, and more. We’ll work together to create fictional geographic maps of our favorite coping places – like Journal Cove, Fidget Falls, or Seltzer Lake – and use a variety of art supplies to decorate them. This event is drop-in style: there’s no need to attend the entire block of time to participate. As a bonus, everyone will get an “coping through art kit,” with blank zines and art supplies, to continue your art and mental health journey after the workshop.

KN-95 masks will be provided at the event, but they are not required. The space is equipped with a MERV 13 air filtration filter and two HEPA air purifiers.
